Who are Bradford Street Angels?
Bradford Street Angels was originally set up in 2007 by members of local churches to help improve care and support in the City Centre. We are unpaid volunteers, some of us are committed Christians and some not, but there is no faith requirement to be a Street Angel.
We patrol every Friday evening and occasional Saturdays in the city centre from 8pm until 2am in mixed groups of three or four, wearing bright, but very warm fluorescent yellow jackets. Our main purpose is to help anyone who needs it and particularly anyone who we think might be vulnerable.

How we help the community
The work can be varied from the serious to the mundane. A typical night might involve:
- Looking out for bottles or glasses that have been abandoned.
- Helping people to get home safely.
- Reuniting lost friends and giving directions.
- Tending those who have drunk or taken drugs to excess.
- Contacting the emergency services when necessary to resolve problems.
- Referring people to other support services to meet their long term needs.
- Giving out warm clothing, socks, gloves, scarves, hats and sleeping bags to all who are homeless.
- Looking out for anyone who might be in danger of physical harm.
The safety of our Street Angel volunteers and the people we seek to serve is our priority.
Why we volunteer in the city of Bradford?
In our first six months, violent crime in the city centre fell by 22%, with a 60% reduction in robberies and an 80% reduction in common assault
